Vintage is never going out of style; some fabrics never have to be in season for you to embrace them. Velvet is such a royal fabric; it feels luxurious especially in dark tones such as burgundy, purple, and black and red. This fabric is such a 90’s throwback but it’s back and better than ever. With the return of the off shoulder cuts and chokers, it is safe to say that the 90’s are an over load on the millennial fashion scene.
Velvet gives you such winter feels, the fabric feels and looks warm. It’s usually stretchy and that makes it flattering on all body types. Dresses, sweat suits, pants, you name it.
This fabric has been used on each and every item of clothing you could think of, even underwear!!
High fashion brands such as Gucci have literally created an entire collection based on velvet velour. It’s been Gucci season for the past six seasons in the fashion community so trust that is has also been velvet season all year long. The new millennial trends have made this fabric easy to wear during summer, winter and fall. It can now be a daytime choice and not just night time. Shoe designers such as Gianvito Rossi; have created thigh high boots, pointy pumps and ankle boots that create such statement looks on one’s feet.
So many stores online carry these gorgeous pieces and some local stores carry mostly shoes and off shoulder tops and dresses. For a unique approach, get a good tailor, buy the fabric and get creative. Come up with never before seen velvet pieces and slay away. When it comes to amazing vintage finds my advice is always thrift, thrift, thrift darling!!!
