Another year done and dusted. 2017 went by extremely fast and I sincerely hope that 2018 won’t go by as fast, just for the sake of savoring memorable and precious moments. Whereas there was a lot happening in the world in general, loads was happening in the beauty world as well. Every December, Google releases a list of the most popular search terms. This ranges from personalities, events, TV shows, Entertainment, Music, Politics, beauty e.t.c. If you spend time searching makeup ideas or how to style your hair, just know you weren’t alone. Google collected all that data for the last 12 Months and the verdict is in! In no particular order, here are some of the most popular beauty searches of 2017. It features a combination of both beauty trends and beauty brands.
The Beauty Blender

This was honestly a surprise to me. Considering the beauty blender come out a couple of years ago, I am surprised that there was still some hype around this magical sponge. The sponge that has completely revolutionized the makeup game. With many brands coming up with their own version of the beauty blender, this should be a staple in every woman’s makeup bag.
Mink Lashes

All things synthetic might soon be a thing of the past. Not only are people gravitating towards human hair extensions but also opting for mink lashes as opposed to synthetic false lashes. Whereas they do give a realistic-looking longer lashes, I doubt PETA are going to be happy about this beauty search. The reason being is mink lashes are made from the fur of small animals which are harvested by gently brushing the live animal.
Lip Gloss

We still love matte lipstick but I’m glad that lipgloss made a comeback in 2017 and I hope it is here to stay for a while.
Feather Eyebrows

2017 was definitely the year of the brows and I sure do hope we can give them a rest this year. From trends such as squiggle brows, eyebrow wigs, braided eyebrows, McDonald eyebrows and even feather eyebrows; we have abused the brows this past year and we need to give them a rest. Of the weird brow trends, feather eyebrows were apparently the most searched. Would you dare to rock this trend?
Lip Plumper

I guess we have Kylie Jenner to thank for this trend. The obsession with big lips is still on with some people even opting for filler injections in search of fuller-looking lips.
Fenty Beauty

I am pretty sure you are not surprised by this beauty brand being among the most popular beauty searches of 2017. Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty has taken the makeup world by storm! And we cannot wait to see what she has in store for 2018.
Huda Beauty

I am sure this brand made this list due to the #FauxFilter Foundation that needs no introduction. This just goes to show the need for inclusivity when it comes to beauty products, something that I hope to see many other brands being more mindful of.
Other popularly searched beauty brands for 2017 include: BH Cosmetics, Wet n’ Wild and Benefit Cosmetics while other popularly searched beauty trends of 2017 include: Prom Makeup, Nude Makeup and Halloween makeup. If you are a fan of the Kardashian/Jenner clan, I am sorry to disappoint you but none of these brands – made the list. What beauty trends/brands do you guys think will dominate 2018?
