The arts are wide and always have something in common that makes them as incredible as they are. Musicians, designers and painters are all artists and their work is how they express themselves. This same energy is used to execute shows; whether broadway or on a 100 show world tour. Beyoncé and her husband rapper Jay Z are currently on a world tour as a duo. This is their On The Run tour and the second one for the couple.
The stage has always been a safe place for Queen Bey.
It’s a place for her to be her true self as a world-class entertainer. Throughout her successful career, she has had several tours and her stage fashion sense has greatly evolved. She went from having her mother Ms. Tina Knowles, design her costumes to now working with major designers like Balmain, Gucci and Versace to bring Sasha Fierce, her alter ego, to life. Since giving birth to her twins a year ago, her personal style elevated. She has received major applause from members of the fashion community. That has a lot to do with her stylist Zerina Akers but knowing Beyoncé, I am sure she has a lot of say concerning what she will and will not be seen in.
This tour has shown us a whole new Bey on stage in regards to her style. She is looking gorgeous, youthful and way more practical with her stage looks. She would always opt for leotards and robot like costumes in the past, but today she aims for more comfortable costumes. Beyoncé has grown fond of the thigh high boots while on stage, the short shorts, and the super sparkly look. She now has a signature half-up half-down hair style for every performance. Her makeup is flawless, subtle yet in your face and her choice of bling is chic and not so over the top.
Here is a quick look at some of Beyoncé’s stage fashion costumes this far into the tour.
This costume was one of her most spectacular looks. The sunglasses gave it a trendy vibe while the cape and the boots gave it all the show glam that it needed….
This look was much more laid back but Bey will never forget to add something extra, spot the super sparkly tank top.
This Balmain look was definitely a Beyonce original; she has always graced the stage in a one of a kind body suit and this one was epic!
Beyoncé’s stage fashion looks are sexy, practical and definitely captivating. According to Harper’s Bazaar, Beyoncé and Balmain collaborated on a capsule collection of the college letter sweatshirts and T-shirts the singer wore on stage at Coachella. The six-piece collection features three T-shirts and three sweatshirts offered in black, hot pink, and bright yellow, like the one Bey wore to open her Coachella set.
A great costume brings the whole show together and sets a tone for an entire performance. We are not even half way into the tour, but she keeps introducing new looks all the time. Can’t wait to see what else she has in store. She is in the music business yet fashion still plays a huge role in delivering her best work. I doubt if fashion can ever be excluded from anything we do.
