It’s that time of the year where we get to say out with the old and in with the new. I am not going to be talking about the trends we need to ditch this year because I think we all know the beauty trends we need to leave in 2017.(*ahem* anything eyebrows related). Instead, I’m going to be looking at some of the beauty trends that are predicted to dominate this year. The Pinterest top 100 trends to try in 2018 list is out. In the beauty category, here are some of the makeup, skin, hair and nails trends predicted to dominate the year.
I am glad to be leaving all the heavy contouring and cakey makeup looks behind. This year will be all about creating a second skin with your makeup so ditch all the heavy and full coverage foundations for something a little more sheer. “We will be seeing a lot less caked-on foundation and more focus on embracing your natural features…” says celebrity makeup artist Patrick Ta whose client list includes; Chrissy Teigen, Gigi Hadid, Olivia Munn among other beauties.
The Refined Lip
We all love a bold red lip but we might just be seeing the matte pout a lot less this year as people are now gravitating towards soft and subtle tints for a splash of color. Any lipstick or gloss with a nude-ish peach shade is in. Peach tones were spotted all over spring 2018 runway shows and I love the fact that you can complement this lip trend with any eye look.
Eyelashes dominated a good part of 2017 and they are here to stay. This time all eyes will be on long, flattery and bold lashes.
Super foods for Natural Beauty
Great skin has a lot to do with your diet. It’s no surprise that super foods will be big this year as people seek to lead healthier lives while in search for great looking skin. Think Chia seeds, probiotics, plus incooperating more vitamins, minerals, fruits and vegetables that have been shown to have a wide range of health and beauty benefits when ingested or even applied topically.
The craze for skin boosting tools isn’t over. Facial rollers are a beloved beauty tool used to massage your face and get circulation going while stimulating collagen growth and cell repair. The idea comes from a century-old beauty tradition.
Wet and Wild Hair
The wet hair look is dominating like never before and has been spotted during Fashion Week Spring/ Summer 2018, Slicked-back hairstyles and wavy wet-looking hair are booming right now. Prepare to see all kinds of curls this year.
Geometric Nail art
This year we are taking the manicure game a notch higher with Geometric and negative space Mani’s. Who knew that math could be cool? Turns out incorporating triangles, circles and can make your nails look super chic. The geometric nail art trend is one way to make a statement this year.
