New York Fashion Week Fall / Winter 2018 begun on the 8th of February and is currently ongoing until the 16th. Fashion week isn’t just about the clothes, the runways serve as the best place to predict the beauty looks you are going to be seeing soon. Granted that most of the hair and makeup looks seen on runways tend to lean more on the avant-garde side, I was surprised to see that some of the beauty looks so far are things that can be incorporated into day to day life with a few tweaks without one looking obnoxious. Here are some of the beauty looks that made a statement thus far.
Sunshine Inspired Eye shadow!
If you are a person that shy’s away from color, then this look will not impress you. This look was spotted on the Noon By Noor runway collection.
The yellow eye shadow look created by lead makeup artist Syndle Komarovksi seems to have gotten people excited about playing around with some color when it comes makeup. If the color is too bright, you can tone it down with a warm transitional eye shadow in a caramel shade.
Return Of The 80’s Headband!
Need any further proof that the 80’s are back? Models wore wide leather headbands at the Tom Ford show as a hair statement piece. The headbands were paired with over-sized earrings. As for the makeup, a smokey eye look was the best way to bring back the 80’s vibe.
Not quite sure if the headband trend will pick up as turbans are still a big deal at the moment but what do you think about this look?
Negative Space Cat Eye!
From the 80’s to the future. According to Jeremy Scott, neon bobs with blunt bangs and a negative space cat eye is the ultimate futuristic beauty look. I was especially thrilled by the three-dimensional negative space cat eye look. The look was achieved by drawing on the cat eye right underneath the brow bone and an eye shadow of the same color used to make the corners of the eyes pop while creating a negative space.
While this is obviously not a practical wearable look, I am sure glad the cat eye isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
The Banana Clip Is Back!
Remember those hideous long hair-clips we used to wear in Primary school well, Alexander Wang has brought this 90’s hair accessory back. The models’ hair during this show was pulled back and held into place with this throwback accessory that was branded; an indication that they will probably be up for sale soon.
