Beauty Inspiration From South African Women

As South Africa commemorates Women’s month this August, we have decided to celebrate women this entire month at Lysa. What better way to do this than with getting some beauty inspiration from my personal favorite South African women? They are not only beautiful and talented but they are also trail blazers in their own right. Here are my top beauty picks from these gorgeous women. Hopefully these South African women can inspire you to try something different with your beauty routine.

This beauty has stolen the hearts of many with her bubbly personality, fashion sense and stunning beauty looks. Popularly known as ‘South Africa’s Diamond’, Minnie has served stunning red carpet makeup looks. My favorite beauty inspiration comes from the fact that she is not afraid to be seen without any makeup on. Her skin is super flawless and she swears by the Dermalogica skincare range to keep it that way. When it comes to the one makeup item she simply can’t live without, it’s the MAC Studio Fix powder foundation… “It makes me look fresh and flawless without the heavy feeling of foundation.”

Nomzamo Mbatha

She is an actress and TV personality best known for her mane that will give you natural hair FOMO. Last year, she bagged a lucrative endorsement with International beauty brand L’Oreal Paris Elvive. Nomzamo is queening this natural hair game. If you are a naturalista or you are thinking of transitioning, you should definitely be following Nomzamo for some natural hair inspo. Her must have hair product is Castor oil for a thicker hairline. Meanwhile, her best natural hair care tip is braiding the hair into Bantu Knots, “It helps retain moisture and promotes hair growth.”

Bonang Matheba

She needs no introduction. This queen of TV and Radio who is also Revlon’s brand Ambassador is the perfect definition of beauty and brains. Aside from her insane work ethic, and impeccable style; Bonang is known to serve some glamorous red carpet makeup looks with her signature look being a bold red lip and Smokey eyes. Clearly she doesn’t shy away from color! Here are Bonang’s top beauty tips:

  • Always wear sunscreen.
  • Never sleep with makeup on.
  • When applying blush, make it look as real as possible. Ensure it looks like you are radiating from within.
  • When it comes to grooming your brows, your aim should be to define their natural shape.

This digital entrepreneur and content creator is always serving face beats! If she’s not giving us some fashion style inspiration or playing around with her hair and exploring different looks, colors and styles, she’s killing it in the makeup department. She is not afraid to play with eye shadow colors that bring out even more the beauty that’s already there. Whether it’s blue, orange, nude…she knows how to bring it!
