Diana Vreeland said, “You gotta have style. It helps you get down the stairs. It helps you get up in the morning. It’s a way of life. Without it, you’re nobody. I’m not talking about lots of clothes”.
With an Instagram bio line that reads Never act your age, Yasmin Furmie’s sense of style is exactly what Diana was talking about.
The South African social worker turned fashionista never ceases to impress with her daily style. This lovely lady takes the time to pick out unique and gorgeous clothing items, accessories and pairs them in an edgy way that screams Yasmin Furmie.
She truly is a fashion guru who never disappoints. It doesn’t matter what the occasion is – fashion week, going out for lunch – she will bring her A game all the way.
In an interview with between 10 and 5, Yasmin shares that, ‘Your style evolves. It evolves with your growing sense of self and your self-confidence. When you’re younger, there’s a lot of questions around the clothes you wear and around yourself. But as you mature, you do it for yourself and others may admire it or look at it and go, “What the hell are you doing?” But that’s also okay, because to each his own. As long as I feel comfortable and I’m confident … it shows on the outside.’
Indeed with comfort and confidence, Yasmin looks amazing from her chunky boots to super edgy and stylish sneakers.
Together with her friend and designer Cynthia Ally, they came up with SiSi. This is a white shirt collection in different styles that caters to both young and older women.
When asked by Zaleb what does fashion mean to her, she said;
‘Fashion in and of itself is something anyone can wear, but for me the important thing is how you take what’s fashionable and make your own. How you forget the formula and individualize fashion for you.’
